THIS HACKATHON IS OPEN TO PEOPLE FROM VARIOUS FIELDS INCLUIDNG JOURNALISTS, IT PROFESSIONALS, IT STUDENTS, CODERS, SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERTS, DATA SCIENTISTS, AND TECH ACTIVISTS
NIMJN is organizing KTM Journathon: Fighting Misinformation and Disinformation using AI. The participants will be divided into groups, which will include journalists, IT professionals and students, coders, social media experts, data scientists, tech activists etc., and they will work together to come up with innovative solutions for combating the misinformation and disinformation ongoing in today's media, using the available AI tools, resources, and platforms.
Dates:
18 February 2024- Virtual session
21 to 22 February 2024- In-person session
Venue: Kathmandu (The exact location will be made available to the selected participants)
Note: This event will take place in a hybrid model (1 day online, 1 and half days offline)and open only for those currently residing in Nepal.
Journathon sessions:
The Journathon will also include sessions on the following topics:
1. Misinformation, disinformation and its impact in the journalism sector
2. AI tools and resources related to combating misinformation and disinformation
3. Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Design Thinking
Expected final submission for the Journathon:
On the last day of this Journathon, your team will need to submit the following:
1. A prototype solution
2. A presentation that will include the protype's main features, the challenges of misinformation and disinformation that it addressed, and its potential for further development in the future

First place: Nrs. 30,000|-
Second place: Nrs. 20,000|-
Third place:- Nrs. 15,000|-
